There is story in the Bible about a certain woman that I want to share with you today because there are so many lessons to take away from this. Out of all the people whom I want to see one day in heaven, it’s this woman because she and I had many years of sickness in common. I love this story of the woman with the “issue of blood” and it can be found in three places: Matthew 9:20, Mark 5:25, and Luke 8:43.

Let’s look at Mark 5:25.

“Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years and had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was not better but rather grew worse. When she heard about Jesus she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. For she said, If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well. Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction. And Jesus immediately knowing in Himself that power had gone out of Him, turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched My clothes?” But his disciples said to Him, “You see the multitude thronging you and You say, Who touched me?” And He looked around to see her who had done this thing. But the woman, rearing and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before Him and told him the whole truth. And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace and be healed of your affliction.”

Twelve long years of being sick! Losing blood on a daily basis will leave a person with severe anemia among other things. She had sought the doctors and spent everything she had but nobody could help her. She only got worse. She was affected physically, emotionally, socially, and financially. How many of you have been sick or know someone who has been very ill for a long time and they have sought the help of doctors, perhaps even traveling to various parts of the world, and have not gotten better, but only worse?

When I had Epstein Barr Virus and Grave’s Disease back in the early 90’s, I went to over fifty doctors for help, but in my case, they only made my condition worse. The medicines they gave me had terrible side effects and so I couldn’t take any kind of medication. I felt like that woman in Mark 5. How many of you feel like that woman?
I want to encourage you today with this story and show you 10 very important points about this woman that God reveals to us:

1. She WAS HOPEFUL.
2. She HEARD.
3. She BELIEVED.
4. She ACTED.
5. She DID NOT CARE WHAT PEOPLE THOUGHT.
6. She PERSISTED.
7. She PROPHESIED.
8. She PRESSED IN TO JESUS.
9. She HAD FAITH THAT PULLED POWER OUT OF JESUS.
10. She MADE A PUBLIC CONFESSION.

How many of us are desperate enough with our own “issues of blood” to do what this woman did? The Bible has the answers that we need to receive our healing. Don’t listen to the naysayers and the doubting Thomas’s who are bringing down your faith. Read the Word of God and allow Him to teach you the truths that will set you free from your prison of sickness...
