This morning we awoke to four or five inches of snow on the ground. Looking out my bedroom window I saw an interesting vignette of life unfold. In yards across the street a medium-sized dog, cocker mix, was running wildly in all the yards, up and down, around the trees, literally jumping with joy in the snow. His performance said, "Life seldom gets better than this!" Ears flying wildly, total exuberance! A little later as the snow was slowly melting in the street, another small, dainty, short-haired dog came walking sedately down the middle of the street carefully avoiding the wet stuff, obviously not enjoying it at all.

I suppose it's all in the perspective: how you look at it. But sometimes more is gained by wading in and mixing it up with problems than by trying to avoid and deny them. The first pup no doubt reached destination cold and wet but happy and exuberant. The second doggy probably reached destination cold, wet, mad and discouraged. Life has problems, and there are at least two ways to deal with them. It's all in how you look at it. Later I wondered if those canines took their cue on life from their owners??
