Neither Do I Condemn

A woman we find in the Bible,
Was taken in adultery.
They brought her to Christ our Dear Savior:
To see what His answer would be.
They said to Him, “Moses commanded,
This woman be put to the death.”
As she stood there with head bowed and trembling,
And sobbing with every breath.
“So what do you say now oh Teacher:
We’re waiting to hear you, tell us.”
But Jesus, He spoke a word never:
But stooped down to write in the dust.
The crowd then jeered, “We are still waiting:
What do You, have to say, You alone?”
Then Jesus raised up and said softly:
“He without sin should cast the first stone!”
Then He stooped down again to start writing,
As though He had heard not a word.
And the conscience in all of them burning,
With conviction from words of Our Lord.
And from eldest to least began thinking,
Of all the wrong things they had done,
And slowly in shame began leaving,
And walking away one by one.
Then Jesus He spoke to the woman:
“Where is he that accuses you?”
“Is there no man here left to condemn thee?”
She said, “There’s no man left here Lord, but You.”
He said, “Daughter I do not condemn thee,
Just lift up your head and be brave.”
“For I came not here for condemnation:
But I came here your dear soul to save!”
“Go not back unto your old lifestyle,
Go and sin no more now I say!”
“For I’ve wiped away all your transgressions,
And made you My child here today!”
