As for impurity, one is being impure with the Holy Spirit’s dwelling. Paul mentions “The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body” (1 Corinthians 6: 13). Also, he asks “do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? One does not want to join with a prostitute because you become one with them since ‘the two will become one flesh’ (Genesis 2:24). Now think of this, if we are the bride and the body of Christ and some are impure/sexually immoral, it is like Christ is being united with an unfaithful love (like a prostitute). Being the body, this even makes his body impure….how dare that be so! What an undeserved insult to the one trying to lead us to the exit from the pure catastrophe that surrounds on all sides, watching to digest us. A true relationship is bonded by love in every crevice and as the bride of Christ, who were called and first loved by him, we are taken by an urge to love him in return and show gratitude for what he did for us in his great love for us. “Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth” (1 Corinthians 13:6). Walking in the Light, we should not desire to be unfaithful, doing anything that is not of the truth, or even more so, corrupting the very body of my Lord! Who could reject such an overwhelming love? Another reason to keep the body pure is if one takes good care of the body, surely they can be trusted with more someday in eternity. If one can’t take good care of what they have been given in this life, why should they be trusted with more in eternity? As in the parable of the talents, the third man acted foolishly with what he was given to take care of. Because of his poor choices, it cost him both the respect and trust of the master, as well as what he had been entrusted with. If one wants more and greater things, they must learn to take care of the lesser things first (mortal).
