Grief

On that day...
my twin towers of faith and courage
exploded
immolated
cremated
and I walked on the hot ashes
for five years
as memories of my child
walked with me into
every second of my days.

Where my twin towers stood
there is a garden.
In this garden there
is hope
there is
light
there
is growth again.

Like the ashes of Mt. St. Helens...
the dusty remains of my desolation
made the garden fertile again.
Minerals
Nutrients
Life-giving soil
began to change
before my very eyes...

I could see the bright
almost translucent,
(almost like breath, so fine and light),
green leaves
of life.
I could see
the bright
blue
eyes
of her
as she looked through the eyes of her own
child.

I always said that this little babe
should be allowed to grow in her own
garden
in her own time...
and now this garden
is here
where
once
there
was nothing
but the twin towers of faith and courage
laying in ashes at my feet.


Today
I walk
in the same
place.
It is now a garden,
a freshly planted garden
and she plays there
with Julia Belle.
