of those who say
they are Jews
and are not,
but are a synagogue
of Satan.

[QUIET VOICE.]
"I understand,
My child."

(Shout to the ceiling.)
"Then....
WHY D'YA PUT IT,
IN THERE?"

[PATIENT SILENCE.]

(Yell at the ceiling plaster.)
"What d'Ya
think,
people were gonna
THINK,
when they READ
this STUFF?"

[PATIENT FROWN.]
"To Whom,
are you
speaking,
child?"

(Silence.)
(Look away.)
(Get up,
to look for the
peanut butter jar,
in the kitchen cupboard.)
"Can't I be HONEST,
with You,
Lord?"

[SOLEMN NOD.]
[THUNDER RUMBLES,
FAR OFF.]
"With
reverence,
child."

(Frown.)
(Look away.)
(Unscrew the top
of the jar.)
(Pull out kitchen
drawer, for a spoon.)
(Stick big soup
spoon into the
peanut butter.)
(Slurpy munch.)
"I don't know
how to talk
about this stuff,
in a sweet way,
Lord."
(Spoon some more
peanut butter.)
(Mouth full.)
"I'm sorry."

[LOVING GAZE
UPON QUARRELSOME
CHILD.]

"I mean.......
You put 'Jews',
and 'synagogue',
and 'Satan',
in the same
SENTENCE...!
Is it any
WONDER?"

[TENDER VOICE.]
"What,
My beloved."

"Didn't Ya
think,
when people
READ this....
they might
take it....
the wrong WAY?"

[SILENCE.]
[PATIENT, LOVING GAZE.]

"All the persecution,
that's gone on...
for.....thousands
of years!"
(Stare up at ceiling.)
"What were You
THINKING?"

"Read My Word,
child."

(Thoughtful squint.)
(Mouth full of peanut
butter.)
"You mean,
that PART...
about...
'MY THOUGHTS
AND YOUR THOUGHTS'?"

[NODDING.]
[TENDER SMILE.]
"Yes,
My child.
And,
then
read It,
again."

are not
your thoughts,

ways
My ways,
says the Lord.
For as the heavens
are higher
than the earth,

My ways
higher than
your ways,
And
My thoughts
than
your thoughts.
