the windy night,
and all;
maybe, the
moon is shining
through the
storm clouds...
and the disciples'
boat is thrashing
about....
to and
fro."

[SILENCE.]

"It's just very ROMANTIC,
that's all."

[NOD.]

"And,
my life
ran out of
ROMANCE....
a long time
ago."

[GAZE.]

"So,
maybe
that's why
the idea
of JESUS,
appeals
so much,
to me."

[GENTLE BREATH.]
[TOUCH A
DEAD AUTUMN
LEAF,
FALLING
FROM A TREE,
IN BEDFORD,
PENNSYLVANIA.]

"He's a very
Romantic Story,
is all,
Lord."

(Look away.)

He's... not
TRUE."

[SORROWFUL GLANCE.]

I KNOW,

He's TRUE?"

BELIEVES Him!"

ain't it?"

and EX-family....
all the OVER,
the PLACE!"

[NOD.]

(Laugh!)
"There's just
a lotta PAIN,
there, LORD!
Not much
ROMANCE!"

[PATIENT NOD.]
"Who is
your family,
My beloved?"

(Shrug.)

(Eyes filled
with tears.)

your
Family."
