God did not preach to Jacob
He only gave him promises
He disciplined him because a man’s
Strength cannot be changed through doctrine
But it can only be exchanged through experience

Jacob never longed to make progress in the Lord
He never wanted to be spiritual,
Or follow the example of Abraham and Isaac
But God chose him before the foundations of the world
For a great purpose—Jacob emptied himself

We are also given many circumstances
So that we can empty ourselves—
We are also disciplined by God so
That we can reveal more of Christ
No matter how bad we are (or been)
God follows us because He loves us
He is not here to condemn us

He is more tenacious than we are
He will seek you out because you are His First Love
You bear His Holy Name and He gave His Glorious Son

God is a God of Promises
He is true to His Word
His Mercy is Great and His Love is Everlasting

He is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob
