How is success measured in your life?
By Dan Langerock

Success has been defined as “not how much you have started in your life, but how much you have finished”. It is so easy to become distracted in life and jump from one project to another without finishing half what you have started. I had this problem several years ago and had to stop and reevaluate what I was doing with my time. It wasn’t pleasant, but I had to make up my mind what would take priority and what other items could be discarded. But is success only decided by this criteria? Surely not!

What about the idea of how many people you have hurt in your life compared to those whom you have helped? If you did hurt people, was that relationship restored through forgiveness, or is the hurt still going on? Some people just don’t care what they do or say, and leave in their wake a lot of hurt people in many ways.

Is your life just about the here-and-now, with no preparation for the future in the physical as well as spiritual realms? Whatever you have chosen to believe about God, there are consequences if you make the wrong choices in this realm. The Bible says God does not want anyone to perish, but He has also given us a free will to accept or reject His Love through the person of Jesus who came to take your place and consequences. But if you choose against God’s option, you cannot blame God because He has provided a way for you to know Him.

The spiritual realm is so easy to ignore because we cannot see it like physical objects. But it is just as real!. How have you satisfied that inner longing of your soul to know God?
Imagine yourself trying to put a jigsaw puzzle together. You try one piece after another but only one will fit that space. The same is true for your life. Only knowing God, His way, can satisfy your spiritual needs. Nothing else will do.

Do you have true peace in your life? Have you been searching for the answers you need? God has those answers for you, but it takes trust, commitment, and obedience to access that peace you need so badly. True success in God’s eyes begins with knowing Him as He wants to be known, not our way. He promises “everything else will be given to you if you start there”. Think about it!
