Encouragement

"Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.
         And in Your book they all were written, 
         The days fashioned for me, 
         When as yet there were none of them. 
         
 How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!
         How great is the sum of them!
 If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand;
         When I awake, I am still with You." - Ps. 139:16-18

The world makes much out of pursuing dreams. I regret to say the church mimics the world pursuing similar dreams. So I wonder:

"Don't we have better than they? Because of the Lord, we should also have better dreams/pursuits."

David seemed to think so, being a man after God's own heart. He saw that God, being great, had great intentions for His king. Do we not also have the same Advantage?

So I ask, first for myself, then for you, what dreams does He intend for us?

My dream seems to be borne of pain, trauma and heartache. Maybe yours as well. 

I was born to an alcoholic father, whom I saw attempt to murder my beloved mother twice. Both times I saw God save her through amazing natural circumstances. Equally true I lost my father by way of his bondage, something I'm sure was also God's deliverance. 

Nontheless I was left with a question: What did it mean to be a man?

But my question was later changed to my dream. The Factor was soon to be the Son, the one true Man.

A trail of horrid failure, disappointment, pain (for others and self), while very regrettable, gave me the drive to pursue what Jesus left before me-Himself.

My Pursuit is my Answer. He is the Model to be what I wondered about: how to be a man. In that, I can rise above the common pathetic examples I have seen, once upheld, and now cast aside. I can leave the past for the sake of the upward call.

I forsake machismo for humility, power for love, intimidation for encouragement. If it kills me, so be it. My death will be joyful.

Maybe your given dream came from a nightmare; from pain and disappointment. I am certain Jesus is somehow the Model of that pursuit.
