Hmmm, things have been a bit quiet lately. I’ll have to stir the congregation up a bit, make them think we’re making progress. Inspire ’em, give ’em a goal.

Ah, I know, a building fund. After all it’s the in-thing these days. It’s outdated to rent, and anyway that church in the next county raised $100,000 in six months. We can do better than that. Just think, we might even be the biggest in town! I might be invited to conferences and seminars everywhere! Even overseas!

Now, let’s see……the next All-Roads-Lead-to-God community meeting is coming up. Don’t know what to do about young Jim, badgering me to tell them about John 14:6. If I do it’ll only upset the Hindus — Muslims too I wouldn’t be surprised. Some might even walk out, and the news travels fast. Wouldn’t be good for my image. After all, I’ve got my reputation to maintain.

What’s next……oh, we have to host that State conference next month. That’ll need money too. Four course dinner for at least 500. After all, a lot will be expected of us at the conference. Why, even the National Moderator will be coming, not to mention the Rev Dr Knowitall, and the Right Rev Professor Blabbermouth. Have to be careful with him—tripped over his robes last time. No doubt he’ll put in his annual proposal for a bigger house. Anyway, I’ll butter them up like I usually do.

Oh dear, that conference will be costly, might not be able to afford that $2,000 new pulpit now. Not even sure about the monthly church picnic down by the river. We’d have to find an isolated spot anyhow, so nobody hears us singing. If Jim wears his Jesus T-shirt that will really embarrass us. Especially if he goes upriver giving out tracts. I told him not to be so fundamental, but he won’t listen. Wish he’d get those early church ideas out of his head. Hmmm, I know the picnic started out as evangelistic, but nobody wants to listen these days do they.

Yawn…..I’m so tired. All this working for Jesus is wearing me out, I’ll have to go to Hawaii for a month again to recharge. They warned me at the Bible college about burnout, especially organizing these important social events. Phew, it really takes a toll on one.
