Victors or Victims

Sept 1, 2009
By: Rick L. King

Recently I went to a spot on the river to just relax. I noticed a spider web. I found myself watching the web. All the sudden a big bumblebee got caught in the web. Instantly it seemed the big brown spider was there attacking the bee. There was a struggle but then the bee fell out of the web. I thought the bee had died. To my surprise the bee got up and flew away. The spider never moved again. The spider must have gotten stung by the bumblebee in the struggle. I thought of this and knew that there was a spiritual meaning to what I had witnessed.

Under normal circumstances most insects that got caught in the web, would have been the victim and dinner for the spider. But in this case, the victim was stronger than the spider.

In our walk with the Lord, the devil has many webs in which he will try to entrap us and wrap us up and choke the life out of us. The ones that are spiritually strong will be able to withstand the battle and become the victor. Yet the ones that are spiritually weak, will be become the victim. This little story shows how important that it is to spend the time with the Lord and do our praise, prayer, intercession, and to draw near to Him. This is a time in history that the battles are greater as the enemy has been attacking more and more. Unless we become strong in the spirit like the bee, the enemy, the spider, may end up having us for its lunch.

Lu 11:22 But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils.

May we become the victors instead of the victim.
