Written for my cousin whose wife and two young daughters were killed in 1999 by an intruder in their home. This is the 10 year anniversary month.

MY SHIELD AND MY SOURCE OF STRENGTH

Psalm 3:3 "You , Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, and the One who lifts
up my head."

I need Your strength My Lord, My God
For there are days I can't survive
I need Your presence around me
For it's the only way I'll thrive

Heal my heart, my soul, my mind
From all that's happened to me
Only You can restore pure peace
From ten years of sheer agony

Be a shield around my heart
Move mountains within my mind
Let me glory in Your presence
Where You I seek I will find

Help me trust You know all things
And find a way to honor You
For You alone are my lifeline
Protection from what the world will do

Shield my thoughts O Lord my God
Keep them focused on Truth
I've been shaken to the very core
And sometimes I've doubted You

Help me see that You are Strength
Power, Love - the First and the Last
You know all that I've endured
Within the ten years past

Give me wisdom to endure again
Another ten years ahead
It'll only happen within Your grasp
And relying on all You've said

With You about me I can go on
And find light in my darkened world
Help me lift my eyes to see You there
With all Your glory unfurled

Knowing I'm safe within Your hold
I can deal with what happened then
Just shield me with Your love O Lord
And be my strength once again
