REFLECTIONS

I dedicate this excerpt to the missionaries who give and risk their lives every day to win souls to Christ. Many of them don’t get Oscars or drive fancy cars. As a matter of fact, some don’t even know where or when they will sleep again. Yet their mission is one of the greatest missions that few in this world ever even recognize. They seek to bring the love and knowledge of Christ to a dying world.
*****************************************************

Let’s reflect for a moment. Shall We?

What do you desire most? When all is said and done, what will be your one true greatest accomplishment here on this earth? How many houses did you buy? How many cars did you own? Did you move up the corporate ladder? Did you win an Oscar for the greatest performance of the year at the Academy awards? Did you get a BA, MA, PHD? How far did you go into the social ethics of this country? How many people surround you every day, talking about how much they love, appreciate and adore you? Did you become that story of success that was so important to you? Did you become a lawyer, a doctor, or a great film producer? Did you become a millionaire or a billionaire? Did you make the Who list of famous people in America?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, you deserve a great big pat on the back. You have arrived.

Now I have another question? How many souls have you brought to Christ? Do you know Christ? Heaven and earth shall pass away but the Word of God will remain.

In the end it doesn’t matter how much money you made, how many Oscars you won, what type of car you drove, how many degrees you got or how famous you became. Don’t get me wrong those are wonderful accomplishments. However, all of those accomplishments, fame and fortune won’t get you into heaven.

Matthew 19: 20-30 states:

“And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life? And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? There is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. He saith unto him, which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Honor thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: What lack I yet? Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions. Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, who then can be saved? But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, with men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible. Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore? And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, that ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life. But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.”

I can’t speak for the rest of the world, but I desire to worship God with a pure heart and clean hands. I desire to love my enemies, pray for all those who need prayer, feed the hungry, visit the sick, help the poor, and clothe the naked.

Matthew 25:40-46 states: “And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, in as much as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: For I was an hungered, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungered, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? Then shall he answer them, saying, verily I say unto you, in as much as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal. Jesus said “as we do unto the least of those, we have done unto Him.”

I pray that when all has been said and done that I will stand before the pearly gates of heaven and hear the words “Well done my Faithful Servant”, Enter In. In the end that’s the only thing that really matters. Heaven and Earth will past away, but the word of God will remain.

Will your name be in the book of Life? Will you hear the words “Well done my Faithful Servant, enter in” or will you hear “I know you not, turn from me”?

Something to think about.
