I know the pain of this dark brink.
The fall of a blade spiritually sharp.
I know its odor, a hellish stink.
The hilt of this sword hidden in dark.
I recognize the way he strikes.
His aim at me is cold and mean.
I want to run, I want to take flight.
Yet before him I'm still standing.
Don't see me...see Christ in me.
I want nothing less.
Bind me in Truth. I am free,
even to the point of final death.
I recognize the way he strikes.
His aim at me is cold and mean.
I make my move against this shrike.
I hug the blade, after I lean.
Bless me, Father, this one grace:
Ever before me my vision of Christ.
Your Son to be my inner face,
as He is my inner Life.
