Think it not strange when I say
Don't trust me
Your trust is a huge burden these muscles can't bear
You seem to forget so quickly that I am human

Why treat me like a god just because I know the big one?
I am His work in progress, not done yet
Your trust makes it sound like I can do all things in the here and now

Don't trust me, I can't measure up
To please you, I had lived in pretence
But now I am weary, let me be, I need some fresh air
I need to grow at my own pace, your trust is too much pressure

If you are bent on mentioning my name and trust in the same sentence
Then trust God for me, trust Him to keep me
For more than you know, He is well aware of the worst of me
After all I am still in his workshop (and of course He'll bring out the best in me)

I beg of you, don't trust me ... yet
Set me not up for disaster, for like you I am feeble
My needs are not what they seem, they run deeper than the crude oil down below

Forget the charisma, I am a man
Overlook the knowledge, I need to know
Deep beneath the smile is a cry for more
Why bring your own burden and dump here in the name of trust?

Don't trust me, be my pal
Enough of the cosmetic brotherhood
A pal knows and still loves without strings attached.
This heart is glad the big J calls me brother

Don't trust me, trust God for me
I will do my best as it is needed
But in case I do not meet up, do not crucify me
For a man of God is still a man at his best

Don't trust me, trust God.
I have warned you,don't trust me!
Put you trust in God


Woe is he who makes man his trust
