I have encountered many storms in life, some of which happen to be the turning points in my life. How do I feel blessed in the midst of storms? Well, I wish I had learnt the secrets to feeling blessed when storms hit years ago. But nevertheless, I suppose it's not too late to learn now. I think there are basically 3 things that a person can do to feel blessed despite the storms in his/her life. They are :-

1) Maintaining a heart of gratitude

It's so important to have a heart of gratitude. It's even more important to maintain a heart of gratitude.

Have you ever noticed how a grateful person talks about the storms in his/her life? If not, it may be good to start to take note, especially if you are someone who has difficulty maintaining a heart of gratitude. In addition, you may want to start by making a conscious effort to thank God for anything and everything, including the storms. I know it can be tough. But thank God, I have learnt to thank Him despite a recent storm in my life. Why don't you give it a try if you are in the midst of a storm right now?

I believe that as we learn to be thankful even for the storms, it will be a step forward - a step of victory - in our spiritual lives. It will also unlock the door of blessings in our lives in time to come.

2) Reaching out to those who are less fortunate

When we are in the midst of storms, we can be so consumed by them that we do not realise there could be a lot of people out there who are suffering even more than us. So, if you are currently facing a storm in your life, why not take the focus off it and reach out to those who are suffering a worse fate than you? You may soon realise how blessed you are!

3) Remembering that Our God is in Full Control

Sadly, when we are facing storms in our lives, we tend to forget that God is in full control. That is why it is so important for us to constantly remind ourselves that our God still sits on His throne in heaven. It may do us much good to constantly remind ourselves of this fact before the next storm strikes.

Storms are inevitable, for we live in a fallen world. Nevertheless, we can still feel blessed when we are faced with storms because we have a God who is in ultimate control of everything that happens in our lives.
