"Whatsoever you do unto the least of my people, you have done unto me."

_____________________________________

Nelson Mandela was one man who made a difference in the world. Martin Luther King, Jr. was one man who made a difference in the world. Gandhi was one man who made a difference in the world. When you identify your purpose in life, you will find others identifying with your purpose as with these great men.

To champion an injustice is a great calling. It requires all of your focus, dedication and strength. With King it was a life sacrifice. Nelson Mandela paid a great price also through many years of incarceration. But you can believe he was not idle. He continued his mission. His name was never forgotten. You might say he went from the pit to the palace when God raised him up to lead the nation of South Africa.

But those of us who live what they call "everyday lives" are well capable of impacting the world around us. We can live extraordinary lives right where we are. In the way we treat and care for those around us. Someone needs your kindness.

Perhaps a neighbor whos recently had surgery and cant get around to cook or do theyre own shopping. Changing the world takes commitment. Commit to sharing your meals with, or cooking for that neighbor for a week or two or how ever long it takes.

The Lord expects us to, "Love thy neighbor as thyself." Don't give thought to whether you have enough; the Lord will bless your efforts. They will likely want to contribute financially to your efforts to bring them relief. Don't decline the contribution; just begin to do the work.

In obedience to Gods word, these are the things that improve our own quality of life. Seeds of kindness are never forgotten. They produce fruit in your life when you least expect it. Sometimes we may feel that people forget our kindness, but God does not. And we ought to do these things "as unto Him". Remember to show appreciation to those who have extended kindness to you. A note or phone call expressing gratitude is well received.

There are lonely people all around us. Often when we are busy with our own families, we dont notice them. Just look around there are many opportunities to sow seeds of kindness into the lives of others. If you have a talent on musical instruments, consider sharing your talents at a local retirement residence. A simple contact with the Activity Director will usually grant you the opportunity to share your talents with them. Sometimes they will even offer you a small stipend.

The commitment to pray for others can surely impact the world around us in ways that we may never know. Especially when the issues seem too big or too far away for us to effect. A commitment to prayer can make a difference.

Sometimes we can donate our time and resources to worthy causes. Your local churches should have a list of organization that could use volunteers. I once read somewhere that volunteers have longer life expectancy. You might select a single organization that gives to World Hunger and donate monetarily on a regular basis. It doesnt have to be a large amount. Even a small amount on a regular basis can make a difference.

For a small monthly donation, you can obtain Our Daily Bread devotional booklets from RBC Ministries in bundles of 50s every month. Pass them around your community to store clerks, grocery clerks, and bank tellers or just random people. You can even slide them under the door of offices at your work place or just leave them on desks.

These small efforts can change the world around you. Be creative to think of small things you can do on a regular basis to make a difference and impact your world positively.
