David Did Not Think It Was Evil
The spirit of compromise will have you crossed up; intersecting where the wire do not cross. It will have you opposing the things and people you need in your life to make it structured and sound. It will keep you in the closet when you should be out the closet. Compromise will cause the believer to dot every (t) and cross the (I). Compromise runs counter to what should be and denies the validity of all truth in the world. Compromise contradicts everything that God stands for and it disrupts the flow of the Spirit of God working in the life of the believer. Many believers have turned against the faith they once knew and loved because of compromise. Except they return to God they will not reach or attain eternal life in heaven.
Compromise mean someone had to concede that the other was right and what they knew to be right was wrong. Why do we settle for the less than when it comes to God? All of the Devil’s promises are mute and void of truth. We cannot bargain with him and expect to come out on top. He is an enemy of God and ours to. He is a defeated foe that will not give up on destroying your soul to build his kingdom.
He will discredit you just like he tries to discredit God to us. He will cause shame to come upon you and destroy your reputation to impair the work of God. He has no scruples or morals and will always use you then expose you as the enemy. David did what he did with Bathsheba and had her husband killed and thought he had done no evil. But be sure your sin will find you out. His sin found him on the deathbed of his son.
How did David get to this point of being so crossed up that he compromised his position? II Samuel 12:1-10 David was the king anointed by God over the people of Israel, delivered out of the hand of Saul when he would have killed him, the master over the throne, over his masters house, have his masters wives in his bosom, the house of Judah and Israel and if that was not enough God would have given him more. But something happened and such could be us. So when we look at how David got crossed up let us apply it to our lives that we too be not deceived by the spirit of compromise. David tried to make something happen by making his sin with Bathsheba go away. He never considered it evil to sleep with another man’s wife, get her pregnant, try to sneak the baby off on her husband that was away at war, and if that was not enough he then put him on the front line to be killed when he did not go along with the plan.
David had gotten crossed up in sin and when he came to himself he wondered how he could have gotten caught up in such a mess. For a split second he took his eyes off of God and put it on a woman because he was not where he was supposed to be. He was looking out his own window when he looked upon her and lusted for her beautiful body. Now you may say, it was his window but it is not the window that got him in trouble. He took just one look at flesh and he forgot who he really was and that he belonged to God. He made a decision that angered God and we as the people of God make decisions also that angers God.
David decided that he wanted Bathsheba, “who is she and who do she belong to”? He inquired about her knowing she was someone else’s wife. Why would he betray God and man for a forbidden act? In his confusion he hated a man that was sold out completely to him and his cause. He failed to realize if he was supposed to have it God would have given it to him anyway. His way was to despise God’s commandments to do evil in his sight. God did not need his help to do wrong but he did need him to choose righteousness over his heart and mind.
Then David sought to hide his deeds, you cannot hide from God, he sees and knows all. David committed adultery and murder. He caused the sword to come upon his house. Amnon, David’s son raped his daughter Tamar. Absalom Tamar’s brother then killed Amnon by getting him drunk then carried out his evil plan to murder him. Absalom then plotted to dethrone his own father. The spirit of deception reigned in his home
