The Disowned Savior

St. John 5:19-30

Many Christians would say I don’t disown Jesus! I accepted him and I believe. But how do you show what you believe? Sure you go to church on Sunday, most anyway. You may even go to Bible Study and prayer but what do you do when you leave there? Jesus was the greatest servant ever. The Synagogues and Temples were full of people, but eh mission was to save the lost at any cost, even the death on the cross. We disown Jesus when we do not go out properly and be the servant we have been called to be.

St. John 9:22-29, Jesus parents feared confessing who Jesus was so that they did not be put out of the Jewish Synagogue. He is of age, ask him they said. We are too soon shaken in our minds, troubled in our spirit and we follow the letter rather than the Word. Instead of a gathering of the saints our churches have become social clubs, where there is a meeting of the day’s news and what I did today. We have lost our reverence when coming in God’s house. No one comes in praying but talking. No one interceding before the day’s service but joking around. When we do not reverence God in one way we have disowned him in all. Let no one make you disown your savior. The blind man said he did not know who Jesus was but this he do know, he was blind but now he see.

Luke 18:1 says men should always pray. A spirit of prayer is not showing up in church anymore. It tells something about your prayer life at home. Is God glorified in your prayer life? Does He count you worthy of your calling? Does He take pleasure in what you do on His behalf? Sure you may think you have all faith and is strong, but a gale wind will come through and take you out of the race. We have no power within ourselves, but it is God’s power working in and through you.

If we are not praying, more than likely we are busybodies. We disown Jesus with our disorderly walking. When Christians get weary in well doing they find themselves busy in other things not of God. We disown God when we are irregular in our walk. When we take on unusual changes in our behavior we confuse people about what we are, we disown God. We disown God when we act in our own will rather than His. We disown Him when we lean to our own understanding.

We disown God when we act religious, we will not go and see about the fatherless, widow, sick or each other doing a time of need. We have to get rid of the spirit of I have for my four and no more. Are we really giving our all and all to God? We are guilty of disowning Him with our life everyday when it is not lined up with His holy Word.
