Today I gave thanksgiving
To the Creator of earth and heaven
I thanked him for many blessings
Some could not be seen

Then, outside my window screen
I noticed grass and a tree
The tree stood over fallen leaves
In it’s branches, a bird was skipping

I know it was there this summer
And will be there in snowy winter
A tree living right in front of me!
Then I thought,
If I can’t thank God for this tree
How can I thank him for things not seen?

Before my eyes, lay His design
Living from day to day
In my heart, he gave new life
The truth, the life and way.

So eye shall not pass tree nor flower
Flowing brook nor rolling hill
Without noticing all of the colors
Of God my Father’s goodwill.
