Encouragement
“Affirmations are like prescriptions for certain aspects of yourself you want to change.”
-Jerry Frankhauser
Affirm-to say positively; declare firmly; assert to be true: opposed to deny.
Affirm Yourself
An affirmation is a positive declaration about yourself that motivates or esteems you. I recommend taking scripture and applying it to yourself. For example: “I, ________, can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13) Or “Therefore, there is no condemnation for me, _______.” (Romans 8:1) The Bible is a storehouse of affirmations that you can apply to yourself. Place motivational quotes around your work area that inspires you toward your goals.
Our words are powerful. God created the land, sun and moon etc. by His voice. (Genesis 1) The bible also tells us that “the tongue is also a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire…” (James 3:6) The tongue sets the course of our life. When you speak something negative about yourself, situation or others, stop and choose to be positive.
“May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.” Psalm 19:14
Power of Words
There is power in the tongue
With the words that you speak.
They can encourage and motivate
Or tear down and bring defeat.
So choose your words wisely
By overlooking the negative.
Build up yourselves and others
Always speaking the positive.

Thank you Debbie for this article. It's absolutely right on. So many Christians don't realize that they are always affirming the negative things in their lives. And why? Out of habit. Some folks might not like the word "affirm" and might think it's too New Agey, but it's not. We either speak God's words about our life or we don't. And there is so much power in the tongue. Anyway, thanks for the reminder to watch my mouth.
