As I was out and about last month looking for a place I heard about where I could pick blue-berries, I had stopped in Greenwood at a nursery by the name of The House of Colors...They had no idea where the place was for which I was in search...However, as God so works with me, I looked across the street; and I saw an assisted living home by the name of The Old Homeplace...I drove across the street and introduced myself...In so doing I met a lovely lady by the name of Bobbie Hansen, the Director...She listened attentively, and then she shared with me her vision of a future intergenerational facility to be birthed as her dream...She showed me the plans which have been drawn up and told me of her dream...
Also, I offered to come and share with the residents; and Bobbie invited me to come and share...In the upcoming weeks, I shared with the residents, her grandson, her son, my grand-daughter, Bobbie, and Reverend Deloris Rapp ( whom I invited from my work)...It was wonderful, and it was a blessing to share with all...
From this event, Bobbie invited me to attend a meeting for ACTS Intergenerationl on June 24, 2008, as she develops the plans for her vision and seeks community support...I offered to write a poem for the meeting and to share it there...Bobbie was receptive and gracious in response to my offer...I did write the poem which is entitled "The Bridge of Community"...I did share it, and I was very blessed to be a part of the meeting...
Also, at the meeting, Reverend Deloris Rapp delivered a powerful speach which empowered the group and Bobbie's vision...God always has a plan, and each person in the plan is vitally important to His design...It was such a blessing to see the plan evolve into the painting of God's love...
May you be blessed by this poem and Bobbie's vision for people of all ages...
Bobbie's vision will strengthen community by sharing resources, maximizes human resources, expands community services, inspires collaboration, enhances social skills, improves academic performance, decreases drug use, increases stability, enhances socialization, stimulates learning, increases emotional support, and improves health...
