Encouragement
"You will recieve beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, and a garment of praise instead of the spirit of despair."
Isaiah 61:3
Its no secret that God wants to give us something for nothing! He longs to take our mess and make it into something beautiful. He spoke something wonderful and curious to me this evening. He said "I enjoy being busy, because that means you have cast all of your cares upon me. The more worries I deal with, the more my people give me, the more trust I recieve and later, the glory!"
I love how scripture compliments eachother. Last week our pastor was talking about the Lord's prayer, and He really seemed to emphasise the phrase "thy kingdom come". I never really understood the signifigance of this phrase until he shed light on it. He talked about God's will being done, on earth, and Him being glorified! When the Lord replaces our ashes with His beauty and our sorrow with HIS joy, then He is glorified indeed and His kingdom is established on earth as it is in Heaven! He reveals Himself as He picks up our mess and turns it around for the better! What a God!!
So many people hold onto to their sorrow and despair. Not because they want to, but because its COMFORTABLE. Thats why I do it, anyway. Nobody wants to hurt, but humanity, as a whole is so unfamiliar with freedom! We are free in the physical, but our spirits are bound. I believe one of the tricks of the enemy is to bind us to the point where we are not aware that we are in bondage, hence not wanting to leave. He wants us to think that we are ok, when in truth, we need freedom like we need air!
All we need to do is allow God to take our hurt and shame and ashes, and see Him raise that which was dead and make it alive! The great men and woman in the bible are esteemed because they allowed God to be glorified through their dilemmas. God rescues us, and we are set free, free of the chains that once held us.
So go ahead, give God your mess! When you do, you also allow Him to be glorified and you in turn recieve joy, freedom and beauty!
