My Ancient of Days
I had a dream early one morning. Some of our family, my brothers, sister and their children and I boarded a carnival ride, a big box with huge plate glass windows. One of my brothers was the pilot. The breath was taken away from the rest of us as we went straight up in the air to the clouds then straight back down to the earth, several times very fast. There’s something addictive about a roller coaster or a carnival ride. It’s a wonderful quick little high that makes you come back for more.
We’re told to fear the Lord. He truly is to be feared. He’s a consuming fire and He hates sin. But I believe that those of us who know Him when we see Him, we’ll bow worshipfully, reverently, humbly before Him. And I also believe our breath will be taken away, and we’ll want to always come back for more.
The first time I saw Him I came before Him at His throne. Like a little girl, I was encompassed and pulled upwards at the same time, with His loving arms. My head was on the shoulder of His white linen tunic. The world of loneliness was left behind. His hair was like white wool, soft on my cheek. The throne behind Him was ablaze but only warmth came from it to my heart. After I spent a while there I wanted to see Him and talk with Him. So He sat me at His feet. They were bronze on fire. But there was something tender and soft about them also. There was a gold belt at His waist. His eyes were the best part – pure flame. My prayer was “Consume me with your Fire O Lord.” There was a lot of lightening around, which showed what Power was sitting in that throne, but it was so loving that there was no need for fear, only peace. This is my Ancient of Days!
He told me how deep His love is for me, as if I was His favorite! He loves all His children that same way. I made some requests for the happiness of my friends and family’s marriages and for the children to become believers. He said my prayers would remain in heaven long after He would take me back home. He keeps them in a dish there and burns them like incense, a sweet aroma. Then I asked Him if I would ever marry. He didn’t answer but He did smile. (Does that mean yes?)
I could have stayed for days but we all have to come back to earth to live and finish the ministry He has for us. So I told Him I loved Him and He set me back down in my room. That was the day I fell in love. There’s nothing sweeter than when you go to take a visit with the Ancient of Days.
