A lump in my throat and tears in my eyes
As i hear on the news another soldier dies
They are fighting for our freedom, and theres too
their risking their lives for me and for you
I wonder what its like to be over there
I wonder if they know how much we care
A news flash says P.O.W. found alive
The only one of her troop who survived
Beaten and broken she lay there for days
Watching them kill her friends in such inhumane ways
I couldnt imagine what this little girl went through
As they beat her black and blue
Im sure there was times she prayed to die
screaming at God and asking Why
As all her troop lay by her dead
God only knows what went through her head
She went to war this little girl of 19
a purple heart isnt good enough for what her eyes have seen
One by one she watched them die
Oh the tears she must have cried
I wonder how she must have felt
Im sure her insides had to melt
Laying beaten and broken she tried to hide
When she heard U.S. soldiers storm inside
She cried out loud i'm an american too
Hearing yes Ms lynch we're here to rescue you
God bless our troops and men at war
And may we never forget what they are fighting for...(c)2003
