"And he withdrew himself into the wilderness and prayed." Luke 5:16 King James Version
Jesus, (God, the Son), often sought out time to speak with His Father. "He withdrew Himself" speaks of a conscious decision to come away from the demands of His life, the companionship of the disciples and the cycle of activity that carried Him onward, to spend time communing with God, the Father.
How refreshing these times must have been for Him. He purposed to keep that vibrant heavenly connection. It was plainly seen before all that He was on earth to do the Father's bidding and He derived strength, humanly speaking, from communion with the Father. In such, He leaves us an example; a directive as to what it takes to live a life of heavenly potential in a sordid, clinging world.
The world is even clamoring for our attention, ever seeking to exhaust us with its demands. Therefore, we need that time away to gain the heavenly perspective on every earthly scene. Even a wilderness can be a place of blessing when fellowshipping with our God.
