Christian Living
Think about something for a moment.
What is one thing that every person on earth wants? Not just believers in Jesus, but non-believers, atheist, and every nation in the world? Freedom. There isn't a person a earth, or a country or culture on earth that doesn't long for, and desire FREEDOM. Regardless of what you believe or don't believe. Regardless of the circumstances. Freedom is a desire of all. Throughout history millions have died fighting for freedom. Martin Luther King died fighting for freedom. Freedom is a universal desire.
This isn't a coincidence. This isn't by chance. When God created us, he created within our soul a desire and longing to be free. Every movie you watch and every book you read has a fight for freedom within it. The universe we live in is caught up in a story - a story like no other. A story of great magnitude. A story of freedom.
One of the many things that makes me overwhelmingly excited is the fact that the Bible is God's word. Every word contained within it is a word that God wrote to us, for this moment, at this time. It is personalized. It is a love letter to us. And it answers every one of the world's questions.
There's a question that every person, every culture, and every country in every age has been asking - where can we find freedom? Freedom from another country. Freedom from fear. Freedom from hurt. Freedom from the past.
In John 8:32, Jesus makes it very clear how to find this freedom we've all been searching for.
"And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
In a simple, straightforward way, Jesus Christ gives us the answer we've all been searching for. Immediatly after he said this, the people he was speaking to began to argue with him. They tell him, "We've never been slaves! What do you mean 'set free?'
Jesus goes on to say that we are all slaves to sin (v34-35), and that only the Son can set you free. Freedom is found in truth. But not in any truth. THE truth. Jesus says,
"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me."
The truth is Jesus. The freedom we seek is in Jesus. If you know Jesus, then Jesus will set you free. Have you been searching for freedom? The freedom you seek is in the truth you've been neglecting.
We were created by God and for God. And the only true freedom and true joy we will ever experience will be living in God.
Everything else is trivial.
