Measure of my Days
"Lord, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is; that I may know how frail I am." "And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee." Psalm 39:4,7
If the Lord's perspective on our lives is our perspective also, then we can better deal with the "measure of our days". The Lord remembers that we are dust - therefore frail. The verses preceding speak of the vanity and brevity of life. If we live as though our time on this earth is all there is to our lives, then we are often frustrated and "heap up riches" (vs.6) hoping to give some type of substance and continuity to our lives.
The psalmist remembers that he is but a "sojourner and stranger"(vs.12) in this life. What is his anticipation, what carries him through this brief and troublesome journey on earth - "And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee."
What a wonderful and insightful conclusion at which to arrive. Our hope in the eternal Lord causes us to "number our days that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom" and walk in confidence and expectation.

yes our lives on earth are fleeting compared to the eternal life that waits for us.....its a good way to live, to think of our rewards in heaven not those on earth God bless
May our journeys ever lead us one step closer to the Father. Great job.
