God’s Word is so exciting
The richness to savour
His truths to discover
I love so much to find
dear Jesus in His Word
With a notepad in hand
And a concordance in case
I’m ready to uncover
His mysteries to seek,
to learn so as to teach
“Keep it simple, My child,”
“Don’t speak now, Lord…
I’m studying Your Word,”
And again His Spirit said,
“Hear now My child,”
And again I said,
“Not now Lord, I’m reading Your Word,”
How foolish I am
He’s such a gentleman
The Word of God speaks
Through His Spirit to learn
It’s so easy to forget
And to take over
Even in learning God’s Word
Please help me dear Jesus
To listen
Even while studying,
Even when engrossed in You
I’ll listen, Spirit
So patient You are
What’s it about keeping it simple
You want me to learn
Speak again, I’ll listen
Jesus said to feed His sheep
Bite size portions to give
That they may receive
For the cud they’re meant to chew
“Lord, it’s easier said than done!”
So much to impart
Truths to establish
'cos they’ve been stolen…
Again I forget
always in His work
to rest - His flow to depend
To work by the Spirit
And not by the flesh
