“Made Whole in Christ Jesus”
Monday, May 30, 2005 †
“[The LORD] Heals the brokenhearted, binds up their wounds,” (Psalm 147:3).
When Jesus left this world He said, “I am leaving you with a gift – peace of mind and heart!” (John 14:27 TLB). What ever happened to that peace? So many people today do not have that inner peace. Instead, it is something that many people are searching for. Even the many Spirit-filled Christians who are in good physical condition, and the many successful business men who are well doers of the community … even those who we regard as being holy… they are all emotionally crippled. We are all searching for that inner peace which comes about from inner healing.
What is inner healing? What is healing of memories? It is Jesus healing the emotional hurts and setting the captive hearts free. Inner healing is the healing of our inner soul: its mind, emotions, painful memories and dreams. Inner healing is a process that is achieved through prayer; when we pray, we are set free from our feelings of resentment, rejection, anger, self-pity, depression, guilt, fear, sorrow, hatred, feelings of inferiority, condemnation and worthlessness, just to name a few. As Romans 12:2 states, “Do not conform yourselves to this age but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and pleasing and perfect.” Review your mind.
Christ desires for us to be completely whole. As Isaiah 53:5 says, “He was pierced for our offenses, crushed for our sins. Upon Him was the chastisement that makes us whole, by His stripes we were healed.” That is why Jesus is the only one who can set our hearts free from Satan’s bondage, heal our memories, make us whole again and keep us in remaining whole. It is important for us to realize that the negative thoughts which we posses, thoughts of worthlessness, guilt, depression, anger, resentment etc. are not from Christ. He did not place them in our hearts. It was Satan, and that is why we must pray for Christ to intervene on our behalf. Those who choose to be martyrs and live in the past, Jesus can not help them. But for those who truly desire to be made whole again, Jesus is able and faithful to achieve that for us because He is timeless. He can walk into our pasts and heal us where we hurt. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever,” (Hebrew 13:8). Time and space mean nothing to Him. Therefore, in order for us to reach that inner healing which we all lack so greatly, we must pray to Christ to help us. We must ask Jesus to walk back into our past and heal every hurt, to take a spiritual eraser and wipe away everything painful in our memories and in our dreams.
Christ wants us to be healed. God wants us to be made whole! “For He has rescued us out of the darkness and gloom of Satan’s kingdom and brought us into the kingdom of His dear Son, who bought our freedom with His blood and forgave us all our sins,” (Colossians 1:13, 14 TLB). Trust in Christ and pray for inner healing so that you may be happy once more. Amen.
