The Judgment Stone
I’ve harbored so much anger
At how you could walk away
Add to it the barrage of hurt
That seems to be in everything you say
I haven’t been able to understand
How you could walk away from me
Your son, your sister, your mother
You chose drugs over family
Regardless of what I did
No matter what I gave
You chose a substance and needle
To sin you were a slave
From time to time you visited
Leaving me more angry than before
I couldn’t comprehend how
You could walk in and back out the door
How could the lure of the world?
Be better than a family life
You walked away from love
Replacing it with sin and strife
Then one day as I was praying
For God to bring it to an end
He pointed me in the direction
Of my heart that harbored sin
“I haven’t done anything wrong”
I pointed out so eloquently
She has spoken the hurtful words
And chose drugs over family
He listened with patience
As I described your life of sin
Displaying all your wrongs
To which there seemed to be no end
“Are you finished?”
I answered ‘yes, I had completed the task’
I was waiting for His direction
Abolish sin I was sure He would ask
Then he spoke so very clearly
The words I wasn’t prepared to hear
Your daughter is in sin it’s true
But your heart is no different, it’s clear.
You have pointed a guilty finger
Defining sin as you see it today
Your heart full of anger & bitterness
Has put you in sins way
He who is blameless and without sin
Let him cast the first stone
The Words I spoke then have not changed
So who is guilty of the wrong?
You’ve looked through righteous glasses
As if you were better than the rest
But if you’re willing to withstand the fire
I will put you through a test
I sent my Son into the world
To conquer sin and set captives free
The blood that flows from the cross
Was for the entire world to be
Set free and delivered
From the clutches of the evil one
He took the keys of the gates of hell
The battle has already been won
So as you stand in judgment
Remember forgiveness is the key
Just as I forgave you
You must forgive others, you see
The hurt and the pain that you endured
Is small compared to what’s been done to me
I loved so much I gave my Son
And still many walk away from the family
You have been a slave to anger
You have be in the clutches of sin
As you picked up the stones of judgment
How could you not know you wouldn’t win?
The battle is not yours but mine says the Lord
Stay humble at my Son’s feet
So that when your daughter comes home again
You two will be prepared to meet
As two sinners who fell once from grace
But redeemed by the blood of the Lamb
What I ask of you is simple
Remember I am the Great I am!
I love the addict and the liar
The adulterer and the abuser just the same
Sin has no categories
No one is without blame
So humble yourself before the Lord
Repent and turn from your evil way
Love your daughter as I have loved you
There is no other way
God’s Words broke through the hardness
As I crumbled at His throne
I understood so clearly
I had to lay aside the judgment stones
2 Chronicles 7:14-15 (KJV)If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place.
John 8:7 (KJV)So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
