Devotionals
If you look like your passport picture, you probably need the trip.
In Esther 2:10 (niv) we read: "Esther had not revealed her
nationality and family background, because Mordecai had
forbidden her to do so." They had a reason.
We have a similar problem. We are often hesitant to reveal our
true identity as Christians, perhaps for fear of ridicule, etc. In our
case, however, we are not forbidden from revealing our colors, but
rather we are encouraged to stand tall and take a stand.
True, there are some Christians who occasionally embarrass us by
flaunting their faith in a Pharisaical way. But I'm suggesting that
we live our faith in a consistent walk with the Lord that bespeaks a
life of inner peace and serenity that will attract others to Christ and
not drive them away.
I don't know who said it, but it's a great statement -- "Consistency,
thou art a jewel." If we are exuberant about our faith in Sunday
service, but don't live out during the week the truth we learned,
we have negative consistency and we'll repel folks from faith in
Christ.
