Leaking
He went down with them [the apostles] and stood on a level place. A large crowd of his disciples was there and a great number of people from all over Judea, from Jerusalem, and from the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon, who had come to hear him and to be healed of their diseases. Those troubled by evil spirits were cured, and the people all tried to touch him, because power was coming from him and healing them all. (Luke 6:17-19, NIV)
**********
You know the situation, because we've all been faced with it at least a time or two. A person has an unfortunate something wrong with their appearance, and you've noticed it, and you wonder if you should say something, something like, "Pssst! You've got a big hunk of spinach stuck between your front teeth!" Or "Ahem, excuse me, madam, but your slip is showing."
Do you suppose any of the Twelve were thinking they should say, "Um, Lord, you're leaking a bit, it seems. People you're not even acknowledging are being healed. Is that okay?" After all, not much time had passed since Jesus had chosen the apostles, and they were still new to all this miracle stuff.
Of course, Jesus knew that power was going out from Him. He was happy to have people receive healing from Him without any kind of ceremony, or touch, or without His even looking at them. His big heart full of love allowed for some private, quiet healing, even in a bustling public setting like Luke described.
Could you use some hushed healing, too?
The power emanating from Him can heal you now, just as surely as it healed people in His physical proximity all those centuries ago. Just stand in His presence in prayer, and let Him work with even your most troubling problems, and perform a miracle or two for you.
Jesus is still "leaking," even today.
