“The Origin and Character”
The Jezebel spirit is quite prevalent in this day and time. It is present in our society, our homes, and even our churches. Although the name assumes the female gender, the spirit applies to both male and female, it enters wherever there is darkness.
Through self-examination, divine revelation knowledge, and obedience to the Lord, I will expose this controlling, selfish, spirit of influence and it’s true character. The Lord is using me as His vessel and living testimony to minister to you through my writings and research. I have lived it and experienced it and if I had not, I would not be able to minister about it, so please read with an open heart and examine yourself. I pray that after you have finished studying this three part series, that you also will be set free. To God be the glory!
The origin:
The Bible speaks of a woman known as Jezebel, who attacked and killed the prophets of God, in the Old Testament (1 Kings 18:4). Then we see Jezebel's name mentioned again in the New Testament (Rev 2:20). Obviously this cannot be the same woman that the Old Testament spoke of, but is rather the same spirit of Jezebel.
Jezebel, Tyrian princess, daughter of Ethbaal, king of Tyre (now Sur, Lebanon) and Sidon (now Saida, Lebanon), and wife of Ahab, king of Israel. According to the Old Testament books of Kings and Chronicles, Ahab married a princess of Tyre to cement a political alliance. Jezebel introduced the worship of Baal into Israel, thereby inciting a mutual enmity with the prophets of Yahweh. She is portrayed as the most bitter opponent of the prophet Elijah and as instigating the murder of one Naboth for possession of his vineyard (see 1 Kings 21). Jezebel survived her husband by 14 years and was killed by Jehu when he seized the thrones of Israel and Judah (see 2 Kings 9). The name of Jezebel was held in reproach among the Jews because she introduced tyrannical government and the worship of foreign gods. In the New Testament (see Revelation 2:20), the name Jezebel is given to a wicked woman who exerts a corrupting influence. In English it has come to signify a brazen or forward woman.
The Character:
Jezebel is a warring, contending principality who works out of a spirit of controlling manipulation as she attacks those in true spiritual authority. Jezebel will dispatch her servants and spiritual children with demonic prophetic messages of fear to attack you just as she did Elijah (1 Kings 19:2).
She is a master manipulator who uses "flattering words and smooth sayings" to seduce you. Jezebel cannot control you until she first seduces you. Beware of flattery, smooth prophetic sayings, and seducing tears from this spirit. Jezebel likes to birth her own spiritual children, she loves false spiritual government, she knows how to create, flow and operate in it. She views children as tools and weapons to manipulate your heart and advance her goals.
Jezebel is like a shark; she is most vicious and dangerous. She circles the lives of others looking for teachable, seducible, controllable, disciples of her own. Jezebel likes to birth spiritual children of her own as she looks for disciples to eat from her own table. (1 Kings 18:19) She will look for those that are in rebellion, who are weak, wounded, or those who are contending, bucking, and fighting spiritual authority.
She knows how to use deep emotional hurts and wounds to manipulate and control as she creates soul ties with you. Jezebel loves to pull people unto herself and away from those who can truly speak into their lives. Jezebel knows how to stir you up because she likes to flow in the whirlwind of confusion and turmoil. She knows how to probe your soul, as she looks for your weakness. She is a master at developing soul ties.
No, is the operative word for Jezebel. When those in spiritual authority say no to her, she is ready for war. Remember, Jezebel is a warring spirit who is always dressed for battle. Have you ever felt insecure? Jezebel loves to flow in the realm of insecurity.
She will continually challenge God's Word in your life. Jezebel can carry and flow well in an atmosphere of fear, insecurity, frustration and confusion. Jezebel is very possessive and domineering; she wants to control you. Jezebel loves power, "Give me, give me, give me." . She likes to be in control of your life because she draws her strength from controlling you. That's why you feel spiritually drained after contending with her.
I have read several books on marriage and relationships, that teach how to use certain principles towards your spouse in order to motivate them into doing something special for you or to get something that you desire out of them. While this is all good and fun, we should use wisdom, I have been guilty at some point and time for using these principles also. By using these principles, we are using a form of manipulation, therefore controlling our spouses.
If we (myself included), are living the life of the, “Virtuous Woman” in Proverbs 31:10-31, then the rewards should automatically come. If they don’t manifest, then we need to do the following:
1) Examine ourselves through prayer and fasting, asking the Lord to reveal any flaws and to perfect them.
1) Ask the Lord to perfect any imperfections in our spouses and to create them into being the Godly husband that He is, which will allow them to nurture us the way the Christ does His bride.
1) Change the way that you speak (confess) about your spouse. If you speak negative about your spouse, you will receive negative.
In the wake of every Jezebel spirit is a life of chaos, confusion, instability, broken relationships, and destruction.
