When Pilate heard this, he brought Jesus out and sat down on the judge’s seat at a place known as the Stone Pavement (which in Aramaic is Gabbatha). It was the day of Preparation of the Passover; it was about noon. “Here is your king,” Pilate said to the Jews. John 19:13-14 NIV
So here we learn that it was approximately noon. As Jesus died at approximately 3 in the afternoon, not much time elapses between Pilate bringing Jesus out to the Jews to see and the death of our Lord on the cross at Calvary. Pilate tells the Jews that here is their king, one who had been flogged, spat upon, and much more. Pilate was almost pleading with them for some sympathy for the Man that stood before them, but none was to be had. All the desires of Pilate to release Jesus were in vain.
