Very encouraging, Don. Brain cancer took someone I dearly loved to the Lord almost three weeks ago.
I too am having trouble coping and focusing. You're right, we can only give what we can't change to God, which I've been doing. I'm starting to cry just thinking of it!
We did have good moments together. We had squabbles and at times I wanted to walk away from her, but I was committed to her. Sandi taught me a lot. I was just now thinking of how, when we were living in my car temporarily, we'd go to Wendy's, Sandi doing her puzzle books and me on my laptops, writing blogs and such.
At someone's advice, I'm reading Max Lucado's "you'll get through this: Hope and Help For Your Turbulent Times." Based on the story of Joseph in Genesis, the theme is that God takes intended evil and turns it into good. Max points out that when you are over your head, you cry out to God, who is there to help you. I'm finding myself getting closer to God. The back cover reads:
You'll get through this.
It won't be painless.
It won't be quick.
But God will use this mess for good.
Don't be foolish or naïve.
But don't despair either.
With God's help, you'll get through this.
