Encouragement
I got the idea for this from Charlie Daniels' song "Who's Side Are You On?" from the Steel Witness Album.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
They scrambled nimbly down the unlit, dirty alley, stepping over stinking, rotting bodies of the homeless and deceased, the forgotten.
>>Heavy traffic poured through the streets of New York City.
They came up to a door, painted dark brown, and the front man knocked slowly, four rhythmic raps against the decaying wood. A short delay…and the door opens a crack, a bloodshot eye peering out from behind the door.
>>In a chapels in Buffalo, a couple married happily, unaware of what was coming.
Another delay and finally the door is opened to the group and they shuffle silently inside. They feel a warmth as they enter the room, and stinging, joyous feeling entering their hearts.
>>Three babies were born in a medical center somewhere in Ohio.
Tiny candles litter the floor, their meek flames creating only enough light to be able to see the person right next to you. About seven people are around the candles.
>>One of the babies die from SIDS.
Some kneeling, others sitting…all of them mumbling bold words. A song begins and some people begin to cry, their hearts overwhelmed with peace and joy.
>>An old man picks up a newspaper and weeps at the headlines of war and disease, remembering the old days.
One man lays his trembling hands on a pregnant woman and, boldly, a prayer for her begins. The room erupts in praise, shouts, songs, prayer and the candles don’t seem to burn so humbly anymore.
>>A group of teenagers lit up another bowl, laughing.
Though only about 20 people are in the room, the sound of a multitude trickles down the streets of New York City.
>>A four-year-old girl cringes in a corner of her own home, listening as her father beats her helpless mother.
The sirens wail.
>>And somewhere, far away, an earthquake is shaking a forgotten corner of the world.
But they keep praising. The sirens grow closer and closer.
>>In Miami, a 13 year old girl is raped and murdered in the bathroom of a restaurant.
Five masked officers enter the room, all yelling obscenities, yanking people up from the floor, ripping tattered bibles from the hands of fearful Believers. Cries erupt, but a soft voice echoes through the room. “You have nothing to fear, my children.”
The Believers were stripped, hosed down and thrown into a dirty, tight jail cell. They were spit on by the guards and laughed at. They were called names. They were beat. Finally, the small group of Believers were given rags to wear and were filed into a confined court room. They held hands, and they prayed to the Lord as their sentence was decided.
“For illegal religious activity, the jury finds these Believers in Religion v. New York City…guilty.” But at that very moment the Believers were gone. Chaos filled the room and a search was ordered for the escaped prisoners.
>>374 planes from all over the world crashed down, others were emergency landed by co-pilots. Pile ups of hundreds of cars occurred across the world. Confused passengers of the U.S. California searched for their missing captain. Late at night, on blank television screens a Middle-Eastern man makes a statement. “I am the one who will free the nations. I will bring complete peace and prosperity to the world, and you will hand over your power. I will put a mark on your right hand and for 3 and a half years you will have utter peace and serenity. After those years, I will decide what shall happen. I am God. I am omniscient, and you, my children, do not worry about your future.” At the end of the three years, a cruel and evil darkness fell on the earth, and Lucifer entered the Temple. He said “I am God, you must all bow to me.” And in the deep valley of Megiddo, hundreds upon thousands of armies threatened and boasted.
The judge wept, knowing and dreading what had happened to the Believers. He looked at the mark on his hand, and in that moment, from under his desk, the judge pulled a dusty old Bible.
>>A vigorous trumpet blast was heard across the land, from east to west, and from north to south, every knee fell to the ground in the presence of Jesus Christ.
The judge continued to cry, convicted…and he repented. In the last hour, he surrendered his heart to his Maker, and shouted to Satan, “You liar!”
>>Angels of the Lord wrapped Satan in graveclothes and threw him, thrashing and screaming, into the fiery pit that was his home.
