“And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odors, which are the prayers of saints.” (Revelation 5:8 / KJV)
In this verse from Revelation, our prayers are shown to be kept in golden vials and described as having an odor or fragrance. Their fragrance is pleasing to the Lord. Some translations interpret the word “odors” as sweet spices or perfumes.
But what if our prayers are not long and eloquent? What if we’re in a predicament requiring us to pray so quickly that we only have time to say, “Lord, help me!” What if we’re not certain how or what to pray? The prayers of some Christians are beautiful and almost melodic in tone. But do these prayers carry more weight with God than simplistic ones with less grandeur? Certainly not! God loves all the prayers of His saints – long, short, general, specific, elegant, or child-like. The Lord will hear the prayers of His children.
If you have not become a child of God by confessing your sins to Christ and accepting His payment on the Cross for your sins, I beseech you not to tarry. Time is short. The prayer of salvation is the only prayer that will guarantee you eternal life in Heaven.
Lord, please remove the blinders from those who do not see their need for You, the Savior. In Jesus name, Amen.
