THE REAL TRUTH
Jesus said He was Truth while also saying He was the Word and God. I am a believer in provable facts. 2 Timothy 3:16 says that God gave the Scriptures, he inspired them through the Holy Spirit. Now, I am not sure about you but if God gave us our Bibles I am going to believe every word. That said; I believe my Bible to be true, literarily.
There is so much wrong with much of the thinking about sin that some are mistaken and not living the free life Jesus died for. Why do you think God sent His Son to be humiliated, scorned, suffered and die? What was the purpose of the cross?
The shedding of blood was part of the purpose. The custom began with the Law. Once per year an unblemished lambs blood was spread over the Mercy Seat for the remission of sin. This was a temporary sacrifice that ended with the death of Christ. The veils of the Holy Place were split in two when Jesus said, “it is finished.”
What exactly was finished? First, eternal life would be available to all of mankind; this is a gift of God (John 3:16, Ephesians 2:8). Let"s look at John 3:16. Notice this is a two-part phrase. It is true that God loved the whole world and all of mankind. It is also true He gave His Son (Jesus) as a gift to mankind. The gift is to make available the second part of the phrase. IF, a person would believe they would inherit eternal life. No strings, just belief. It must be personal, not an academic belief (Romans 10:9,10). Notice too that there is no mention of forgiveness of sin in John 3:16. So what about sin? What about forgiveness?
We need to distinguish between a sin (singular) and sins (plural). Singular sin is unbelief or a sin against the Holy Spirit. Singular sin is the “sin unto death.” Sins (plural) are those individual transgressions we commit daily. We all sin and not one of us are righteous in our physical being, (Romans 3:10, 3:23). Romans 5:1 is interesting; “While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Just about every Epistle and most of Paul’s writings deal with the subject of personal sin. Do we sin daily? Yes, but Paul says we are free from sin and death. All of Christian liberty is dependent upon this one fact. The blood shed at the cross by Jesus covers our sin problem permanently, 1&2 Peter. Christ died once and for all. How permanent is our forgiveness? Romans 8:1 says it is forever, we will never be condemned. James tells us that if we say we don’t sin, we are liars. When we stand before the Mercy Seat we will not be condemned. God, the Father never see’s our sin after salvation because the blood of Jesus Christ covers it. Personal transgressions after salvation are of the “flesh”, not of the spirit. 1 John 1:9 and other passages, covers our personal sin after salvation, confession brings forgiveness and cleansing.
Like sin and sins, we need to see the difference between body, soul and spirit. First let's consider a question. How can sin be present in our spirits when the Holy Spirit (God) resides there? Then again, if we are found in Christ Jesus, as His bride, how can sin be attached to Jesus? Can you see the logic?
Hey, I am going to go out on a limb here. God doesn’t do anything halfway. Even when the Law was abolished, the Jews are still His chosen people and some will walk into the Kingdom of God, (the Kingdom of God is different than the Kingdom of the Elect). Salvation is available to the Jews just as it is for the Gentiles.
So let’s go back to sin. I have written much on this subject. I wish for all believers to gain the freedom that Christ died for. There is so many man made rules and restrictions that cause our freedom of sin to be ripped away. The simple fact is that Jesus died for your sin/sins. He died for all sin, past, present and future. God does not do anything half way!
Sin is the biggest problem the believer has. Satan dwells on the sin problem. How else can he infect the believer? My best advice on this subject is to go to a Concordance and look up sin. Check out the Greek and Hebrew definitions. Do a complete study and you will be amazed at what you find.
My prayer is that you can release yourself of the burden of sin and find freedom. Jesus said, “the truth will set you free.” What do you suppose He meant?PLEASE ENCOURAGE AUTHOR BELOW LEAVE COMMENT ON ARTICLE AS A MEMBER OR VISITOR
