Encouragement
I know we are all familiar with the Wizard of Oz. It is hard to believe that one could actually get a revelation from this story, but I did.
We received the Wizard of Oz the young hearts version on cassette when we purchased a toy for my daughter. As we listened to it on the way home, one part of the story struck me and gave me this revelation of the power of Jesus in our life.
In one point of the story Dorothy, with her beautiful jeweled shoes on, was trapped in the wicked witch's castle. The wicked witch knew the power Dorothy possessed in the shoes. But she also knew that Dorothy was not aware of the power so she took advantage of this and deceived her so that she would not find out. The wicked witch was scared! If Dorothy should realize the power she beheld, the wicked witch would be defeated.
Now you may be thinking how could this relate to our relationship with Jesus. Well, think about it. The devil knows that we have the power of Christ within us. He knows that we are ignorant on how to use this power and he will use this against us for as long as we stay in that place of ignorance. We need to "know" the power of God within us in order to step out and use it. Like the wicked witch knew that Dorothy had the power but didn't know how to use it (Dorothy didn't even know she had it!), the devil knows we have the power to defeat him in our lives. But do 'we" know we have the power? Do we know how to use it? Like the wicked witch was afraid that Dorothy would realize she had the power and use it, the devil is afraid! He is afraid that we will realize we have the power to defeat him in our life and once we realize this we may find out how to use it. Guess what happens when we realize how to use the Power of the Lord Jesus Christ in our life? Guess what happens when we "know" in our hearts that we "can do all things through Christ who strengthens me"? Guess what happens when we know that "No weapon formed against us shall prosper, and every tongue which rised against you in judgement You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from ME, SAYS THE LORD." I am not saying that we should defeat the devil. I am just saying that we need to realize that he is already defeated when Jesus died on the cross for our sins and that the devil has no place in our life! Resist the devil and he will flee. When we finally realize that the devil does not win we will have the victory not only in the end but throughout the journey of our life.
Let's learn how to utilize God's power within us. Let's overcome the devil with the knowledge that we will not be defeated in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Let us make the devil mad as hell at us for stepping out and using the Power of Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour.
2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (Praise God!!)
Acts 1:8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
Philippians 4:13
Isaiah 54:17
Just a footnote: I wonder what happens in the spiritual realm when we put on the whole armour of God?
Ephesians 6:10-11, 13-17 (Personalized) I will be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. I put on the whole armour of God, that I am able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
My waist is girded with the Belt of Truth; I put on the Breastplate of Righteousness; I have on my Gospel shoes of Peace; I hold up my Shield of Faith where I am able to quench the fiery darts of the wicked one; I have on my Helmet of Salvation and I hold up the Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God.

Gail, you are so right! In 1 John 3:8 it tells us, "FOR THIS PURPOSE the Son of God WAS MANIFESTED, that HE MIGHT destroy THE WORKS of the devil. Then in Hebrews 2:14-that through death HE MIGHT DESTROY HIM who had the power of death, THAT IS THE DEVIL. The devils power lies in our lack of knowledge and in our believing his lies. It is amazing the things God will use to reveal some truth to us. Great article. Blessings, Sharon
