Devotionals
While in the malls with my scooter, I challenge every other scooter
user to a race. I tell that mine goes so fast, look how it parted my
hair (I have about a 4 inch part, otherwise known as baldness).
While Betty shops in the mall, I traverse the aisles on my scooter. I
occasionally stop where I won't deter foot traffic, and I just sit and
study faces. You can usually tell a lot from a face. Some are
happy, some are sad, some are mad while others show complete
frustration and others show total disgust, especially at Christmas
shopping time. You see every emotion.
At times I look at our cat and wonder what is going through his
little mind. I wonder the same as I study faces. What emotions are
raging that cause a face to reflect the inner self? It's hard to keep
our inner being from being displayed on our face.
Because of my stroke, the corners of my mouth tend to sag,
resulting in a sad look. I'm sure there are others with similar
problems where the face is not a true indicator of the real self
within.
As Christians, our faces should reflect the confident contentment
of a person at peace with His Lord. The buzz phrase at Christmas
is "Peace on earth," but it's hard to find it in the malls. Maybe the
busy shoppers can find it in our faces.
Psalm 119:5 (nlt), "Oh, that my actions would consistently reflect
your principles." Do we dare pray that?
