The true testing of our faith is in how we respond to the daily challenges of life. If we truly are pupils and disciples of Jesus, we will look at every situation as an opportunity to grow and express our status as a true Believer. When we neglect our daily communication with God and rationalize our absence from His Word, we have paved the way for our carnal nature to dominate the situation. The success ratio of victory over circumstances diminishes to a single figure when our human nature plays a leading role. Worry, fear, exaggeration of the challenge, doubt, anxiety, and reasoning all lead to an early defeat. The Bible states that God has given us “all things that pertain unto life and godliness…” (II Peter 1:3) What we have to do is appropriate and display those things. It is not a question of what kind of challenge awaits us; rather, it is the answer we display! There are a growing number of Christians that are fighting depression as a result of the lack of spiritual stamina. Depression also comes from a lack of spiritual expression. Every day we should stand in front of a mirror and proclaim who we are in Christ. Instead of reading and listening to the daily reports of how bad this world is, why not read the Word and see how God has everything under control?
If Christians fail to exhibit the reality of the Word, the chances of reaching the non-believer for Christ become even more remote. We can huddle with other Christians for worship, but if we don’t reach out with our lives and words to a dying world, our faith will diminish. Inactive faith brings limited results. Neglected faith promotes reasoning. Sight replaces faith. Worry dwarfs peace. Fear overcomes hope. Sadness covers joy. Turmoil upends contentment.
Many of the trials that we face in life are here for a purpose. These are learning experiences that will help promote spiritual growth. The problem is that many Believers don’t understand the role they play in their spiritual journey. The next time you face a challenge in your faith arena, look at it as an opportunity to advance in your spiritual walk. God’s trials are there to enhance our progress in His Kingdom. Satan counters the trials with temptations. His purpose is to draw us away from God. He wants us to fail the course on spiritual dynamics. God’s trials are for our construction, while Satan’s temptations are for our destruction. Learn to distinguish between Trials and Temptations.
Let us evaluate our spiritual walk and see if are making progress for the kingdom of God. Let us realize we are responsible for our spiritual walk. We decide if we are going to read our Bible and talk with God daily. We decide if we are going to share our faith. We decide if we are going to walk by faith or by sight. We decide how to respond to our trials and temptations. It is not up to God or Satan what we will do; rather, it is up to us how we respond to the circumstances in our life.
