Today, 29 September, is commemorated in many churches, including the Catholic Church, as the feast day of the archangels. People remember them and their service in the providential help offered by God.

Archangels in the Bible

Archangels are seen in many places in the Holy Bible. They intervene in human life, helping them, protecting them and guiding them in their path of faith.

On many occasions, they act through human inspirations and help others. People cry to God for His help. He sends His angels in some way to help those who seek His help. Remember the words of the Psalms. We can find the protection of angels and archangels in many places in the Holy Book.

The book of Psalms sings, "The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them. Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him. Fear the Lord, you his saints, for those who fear him lack nothing." (Psalms 34: 7-9)

The archangels in the Gospels and other books of the Bible
The archangel Gabriel is mentioned in the Gospels as appearing to Zacharias promising him about the birth of John the Baptist. He is the one who brings the good news of redemption from heaven. He shares the message from heaven with the virgin Mary, foretelling the births of John the Baptist and Jesus, respectively (Luke 1:1138).
The archangels are mentioned or identified in many places in the Bible.

Angels in Christian traditions

According to the Catholic News Agency "Christian tradition recognizes four offices of Saint Michael:
1) to fight against Satan,
2) to rescue the souls of the faithful from the power of the enemy, especially at the hour of death,
3) to be the champion of God's people,
4) and to call away from earth and bring men's souls to judgment.
Let us remember the archangels and other angels mentioned in the Holy Bible. Let us pray to God to send His angels and protect us from all evils.
