I hear the thunderous waves as they crash upon the rocks. The strong current grasps me in its hands and pulls me down.
Gasping for each breath of air I struggle to keep my head above water. I fight to catch a glimpse of land. Nothing works; it seems all is lost.
I raise my head up to the sky in one last effort. I gulp in one last breath of life and cry out to the heavens.
Then I see it.....
...a light in the storm,
...a direction in the sea of nothingness,
...my hope and my salvation,
You are my lighthouse.
The waves continue their destructive course. The current continues to hold me in its grasp. Nothing has changed
When I feel the storm begin to overpower me
...that is when you give me direction
...that is when you lift me up
...that is when you strengthen me
...that is when you offer encouragement.
Above the crash of the waves I hear a still small voice saying, “Trust in me. I will be with you always; even in the storm. I will lift you up. I will surround you with my arms of comfort and protection. I will strengthen you and encourage you. Know that you are never alone.”
I read both your articles and they expressed reassurance over anxiety and victory over defeat. This article is well written and makes its point cogently and as I read it this verse came to mind. "The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places." (Habakkuk 3:19) And then I remembered these verses, "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth." (Psalm 121:1-2) Thank you for this thoughtful article. God bless you.
