LETTING GO by Gwen Mirman
“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” ~ Isaiah 43:18-29 (ESV)
Do you have “what ifs” or “if onlys”, or anything else that is in the past that is hard to let go of? We need to be intentional about working on leaving it in the past. We all have had trying events, bumpy roads, regrets and stress. It can be emotionally difficult to let go of these things.
Ask God to help you carry burdens of the heart, past troubles and heartaches. We experience regret in life, and experiences in life that may not always be pleasant, and sometimes difficult BUT we learn and grow from those things. Romans 8:28 tells us, “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose”. (ESV)
When driving a vehicle we look forward in order to see where we are going. We do not look in the rearview mirror to see where we are going, just as life cannot advance forward if we are stuck looking back. Easier said than done, but prayer and practice letting go is key. Pray and pray often. Seek God’s help, strength and peace. Look to His many gifts at your disposal. Stay focused on the rainbow, instead of the storm!
