Many a times when we have been promised something, we want it now served on a silver platter but that is not always the case. It usually comes with hard work, dedication and a lot of tests that will check our commitment and dedication to reaching the promised land.
When God took the children of Israel from the land of slavery to Canaan, they went through the wilderness for forty years and during the forty years it was a training school that checked their faith in the Lord. At times they were bitten by serpents, while at times they complained of hunger but still saw the Lord providing for them and healing them. They went through unknown territories that they did not know except the Lord only. Despite all those hitches they still made it to the promised land anyway (Habakkuk 2:3).
Which land has the Lord promised you? It doesn’t matter how many times you got sick on the way. It is the wilderness and in the wilderness it is where boot camps are held in order to sharpen your skills on how to handle yourself in the promised land and even how to conquer it. Today you may admire a successful doctor or engineer but we may not even look into the rocky paths they went through like spending sleepless nights studying hard. The friends and pleasures they lost because of the extensive studies were the training field for the success ahead. Today you may admire a real estate mogul like Donald Trump but do you know that before he got his empire he went bankrupt by millions of dollars in the negative? A wilderness is a sieve that only the fine particles that suit the purpose can pass through and no chaff will go through. You don’t have to give up but you have to keep pushing because a wilderness is a precursor to a promised land. THERE IS A PROMISED LAND AT THE END OF EVERY WILDERNESS; and for it to be maintained the rules that were introduced in the wilderness do apply!
