Here's an email letter I sent to a gal from Stockton who was running an upscale second hand goods store. My friend John Vandervort instroduced me to Jill and thought we might be a match but we only saw each other a few times.
Since I failed to keep a diary or journal during this time of my life this letter serves as a record of when my mother and visited my grandmother during her illness where she was basically bedridden. My gut instinct told me my grandmother wouldn't make it beyond the month. I later learned from my aunt Shyla that my grandmother has passed away during the month of April. She had suffered a stroke in 1998 when I was working at the Beach Club in Santa Monica, CA.

Dear Jill,
I missed you when I was in Stockton last week.
My brother and I got together for a visit and then my mother and I visited my grandmother who is dying in the convalescent hospital. She has had a series of strokes that has left her in bad shape. I didn't even recognize her at first. I dont' know how much longer she can survive in such a weakened state.
I know you recently attended your grandfather's funeral last month I believe. Death is not a pleasant topic but we must be prepared for it when it comes. Does this make sense?
So how are you doing these days? Jill I really liked your store when I dropped by a few weeks ago. You've obviously been working real hard. Next time I come up would you like to get together for dinner? My treat of course.
I went to the Academy Awards this past month. It was a blast. I shook hands with Warren Beatty and told him how much I enjoyed his speech. Then it was off to an Elton John party where I saw Joan Rivers and Queen Latifah.
