Gospel
Just asking this question is a good beginning. Actually, you cannot learn about God until someone tells you about Him. The Lord knows those who want to know Him, and He will send someone to talk with you about who He is. Maybe you listen, maybe not. It is imperative for you to know about God, and to learn about who He is and how to get to know Him.
You probably have a Bible and have tried to read it but cannot understand what you are reading. You then put it aside for a while; then you turn to it again. This time you understand that there are many different titles. Maybe you noticed the book named “Genesis.” You read about how God breathed and how His Spirit moved over empty space, how He separated the waters and then how He produced the earth, the light, the heavens, the sun, the stars, and the planets.
You read that on the fifth day, God created birds and animals to live on land, and fish to live in the water. God then created man. He concluded that everything He had created was good. He had created Adam first and then He wanted Adam to have a helpmate, so He created Eve to be His wife. God had created trees, flowers, grass, the heavens, and the seas. He was pleased with everything He created.
He put Adam and Eve in a garden where they could spend a beautiful life together. God had given Adam the job of naming the animals and birds and fish that He had created. Then you learn that there is an evil person in the Garden who succeeds in confusing Adam and Eve about the tree that God had put in the garden and had cautioned Adam and Eve not to eat of it. But Eve did eat of it, and then enticed Adam to sin by eating of the fruit of the tree also. Now they are put out of the garden by the Lord and have become sinners because they disobeyed the Lord.
God had told them if they ate of the tree, they would die. Satan lied to them and told them they would not die. But you know the truth. We do die. However, the love of the Father, the Son, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, has provided a way for us to go to Heaven. Jesus, our beloved Savior, took upon Himself, the penalty of our sins, nailed our sins to His Cross, and made it possible for us to repent of our sins, and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The gift of the Spirit is eternal life.
Jesus paid for our sins because He did make it possible for us to receive the Holy Spirit by believing what Jesus tells us. He never lies because He is the Truth; He is the only way to Heaven. There is no other way. In Ephesians 2: verses 8 and 9, you learn: “For by grace you are saved, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast. Jesus is love; He loves you; His desire is for you to know Him; for you to know He loves you.
You do not have to do anything. You do not have to resolve to become a good person; even if you try you cannot become good. There is absolutely nothing you can do except to believe what Jesus tells you. He alone has the keys of Heaven and Hell. There is no other way to get to Heaven. You must receive Jesus as your Savior.
“How?” you ask, “am I able to repent of my sins?” There is only one way: Bow your head, open your heart and ears to the truth: Ask, “Father, you know I have sinned, I am a sinner because I have not believed in the name of Jesus. I have not the truth in me. I ask you to forgive me. I am sorry I have not been obedient. I am sorry for my sins and I want to know the truth. Please hear my prayer and come into my heart. Jesus, I believe you truly are the Savior, that you love me, and that you will come into my heart today. I ask you to help me become the person you want me to be.
Thank you, Father, for answering my prayer. Thank you for saving me.”
