God is Love.
"This is how God showed His Love among us: He sent His only Son into the world that we might live through Him. This is love: not that we loved God , but that He loved us and sent His Son as atoning sacrifice for our sins." (1 JOHN 4:9-10)
God is Holy.
"But just as He Who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do, for it is written "Be holy because I am Holy." (1 Peter 1:15)
God loves us but because He is Just, He must punish sin. Our obedience to His command to be holy makes us turn away from sin. To obey is the proof of our love for God. To obey means we are truly His children.
"If you love Me, you will obey what I command."
(JOHN 14:15)
"We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the one born of God keeps him safe, and the evil one cannot touch him."
(1 JOHN 5:18)
"Those who obey His commands live in Him, and He in them." (1 JOHN 3:24)
Transformation requires our willful obedience. We have to choose to obey because we love God and desire to follow Him.
"My sheep listen to My voice; I know them and they follow Me." (JOHN 10:27)
Jesus Christ told the story of the house built on rock and the house built on sand. The Christian who builds his faith on Christ, and applies the Word in his life, is like a house built on Rock. When trials and temptations come, he will not fall and be destroyed.
But the person who hears God's word and does not put them to practice is like a house built on sand. When the storms of life come, the house is destroyed because its foundations are weak.
(Luke 6:46-49)
As we obey God and seek holiness, God is faithful to keep us from falling. He Who began His work in us will carry it to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. (Philippians 1:6).
We can be assured of victory over Sin because as we surrender our will to God He will do His part at our transformation.
"For it is God Who works in you, to will and to do according to His good purpose."
(Philippians 2:13)
Transformation begins with our mindset and we need to renew our minds in order to receive the working of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
"Therefore, I urge you, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, HOLY and pleasing to God - this is your spiritual act of worship.
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world but be transformed with the renewing of your minds." (Romans 12: 1-2)
"But now, you have been set free from Sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life." (Romans 6:22)
From all these verses we can see that God calls us towards holiness and freedom from the bondage of sin. Nothing is impossible with God. There is victory over sin. God does what He promised if we obey Him.
"The One Who calls you is faithful and He will do it." (1 Thessalonians 5:24)
